DBPD Anonymous Crime Tip Program

In response to demand from the public for secure and anonymous ways to submit crime tips to the authorities, the Daytona Beach Police Department has developed two new anonymous tip services for use by the public.

They are:

1. Text-a-tip Service: User types “DBTIPS” plus their tip on their cell phone or PDA and texts it to “CRIMES” (274637). The text message is encrypted and an alias is generated, masking the identity of the sender from the police. The police have no way of determining the user’s identity. Click here for complete information in pdf format.

2. New Web Tip Link: Users go to “Anonymous Web Tips.” The user then fills in a form and submits it via the Internet. The tip goes through a secure server where, again the identity of the sender is masked from the detectives receiving the Web tip.

Call 911 in an emergency
: If you see a crime in progress or need to report an emergency, please call 911.
