As part of the DBPD + Community = Safer Streets campaign to combat crime in the City of Daytona Beach. The Daytona Beach Police Department will participate in the annual Kicks for Guns Program.
The focus of this preventative campaign is the promotion of Public Safety. Community involvement and community partnerships are paramount when addressing public safety issues. The Daytona Beach Police Department invites the community to collaborate with the Daytona Beach Police Department to enhance public safety. One component of this collaborative campaign includes Kicks for Guns, which is a program to help get guns off the streets. Kicks for Guns commences on Thursday, August 16 from 7am – 7pm. The drop-off location will be at the John H. Dickerson Center, 308 S. Dr. Martin Luther King, Daytona Beach, FL.
Kicks for Guns, is a popular event and a major tool to help police fight crime. The Daytona Beach Department along with other law enforcement agencies from both Volusia County and Central Florida will participate in this annual event. Over the past 3 years the Daytona Beach community responded by turning in over 700 guns worth $35,600 in gift cards with no questions asked.
The Daytona Beach Police Department is asking the community for their support by making a monetary donation or gift card. For every $50 donated = 1 gun off the street. The goal is to help reduce violent crimes.
Please respond by August 14, 2012.
